Oltrusa has invested substantially in its bus fleet, incorporating new GPS systems and making separate entrances for bus drivers and passengers. However, this was not enough in stopping thieves in hijacking an Oltrusa bus service from Lima to Arequipa in August 2016. This resulted in 51 passengers being robbed and has damaged Oltrusa reputation significantly. Tourists have since been exploring other options: PeruHop is a good alternative, as it is a more secure and friendly bus service operating all over south Peru.

Oltursa covers various routes in Peru, from the North, Centre and South. It covers cities such as Arequipa, Chimbote, Chiclayo, Cusco, Ica, Huaraz, Piura and more. Check out all of Oltursa’s bus schedules and routes on their website.

Definitely on some routes, especially north and central (Lima to Huaraz, Chiclayo, Trujillo and so on). However, we recommend on booking with Peru Hop if you are planning to travel through the south of Peru!
